Laser Hair Removal

Laser Hair Removal in Chicago North Shore

Throughout human history, people have shaved, waxed, and plucked unwanted hair in pursuit of smooth, soft skin. While these methods may get the job done in the short term, they can cause irritation, and they also allow the hair to grow back. Fortunately, laser hair removal provides a technologically advanced, long-term solution to unwelcome body hair.

How Does Laser Hair Removal Work?

The Sciton laser’s broadband light technology is the most powerful intense pulsed light treatment available today. When we direct brief, intense bursts of light into hair follicles, the pigment within will absorb the energy. This prevents the hair follicles from growing new hair while leaving the surrounding skin untouched for a fast, safe, and comfortable treatment.

Who Is a Good Candidate for Laser Hair Removal?

Since this procedure targets the melanin in hair follicles, people with lighter skin and darker hair tend to see the best results with this treatment. However, Sciton’s versatile, advanced technology has made laser hair removal an option for clients with darker skin tones. We can determine whether you are well-qualified for laser hair removal during your pre-procedure consultation.

TIMELESS. AGELESS.
EXQUISITELY YOU.

Let’s take the next step together on your aesthetic journey.

What to Expect During and After Laser Hair Removal

In preparation for the procedure, you must shave the treatment area the night prior to your appointment. The hair cannot have been plucked or waxed for a few weeks prior to treatment and you cannot be tan (that includes self-tanner).

Upon arrival, we will get you cozy in the treatment room. Your technician will then customize the settings on the BBL laser device based on your skin type and the amount, color, density, and location of your unwanted body hair and begin treatment.

After your in-office laser treatment, you can immediately resume your typical daily routine with no need for recovery time. Your skin may be slightly reddened and tender as if you have a mild sunburn.

Since laser-treated skin is more sensitive to sun, you’ll need to be diligent about applying sunscreen and avoiding excess sun exposure for at least six weeks after each laser hair removal appointment. We recommend choosing a broad-spectrum sunblock with an SPF of at least 30, even when it’s overcast. Learn more by reading our laser hair reduction pre & post op care guide.
