What Can CoolSculpting Do for You?

Many people are genetically predisposed to accumulate fat in regions like their stomach, thighs, upper arms, buttocks, back, chin, and neck. Despite how diligently you count calories and put in hours at the gym, you may still be unsuccessful at slimming down these problem areas, even after you’ve reached your goal weight.

CoolSculpting is the trademarked name of a technology called cryolipolysis, which is a process that uses carefully directed cooling to freeze and remove fat cells without harming the skin or surrounding tissue.

How Does CoolSculpting Work?

CoolSculpting technology employs controlled freezing to precisely target and eliminate fat cells only in specific regions of your body. In the months following your treatment, your body will naturally flush out the frozen fat cells, after which they’ll be gone for good.

CoolSculpting is FDA-approved and requires zero post-procedure recovery time. Since it is the world’s No. 1 non-invasive fat reduction procedure, with more than a million sessions performed, you can feel confident that it is a safe and effective treatment.

Chicago CoolSculpting FAQs

CoolSculpting is not a solution for weight loss – it’s a procedure used to sculpt and eliminate diet- and exercise-resistant fat pockets. Many of our patients report an increased motivation to maintain their healthy weight and improved shape after CoolSculpting has finally eliminated their stubborn fat deposits.

Our experienced providers will recommend a customized CoolSculpting treatment plan after meeting you in person and learning more about all your areas of concern. At that point, we can give you an accurate price quote for CoolSculpting in the greater Chicago area.

As CoolSculpting is entirely non-invasive, many of our patients read, listen to music, or stream their favorite TV series during their appointment. If you wish, you can resume normal activities immediately following the procedure, including returning to work. Trio Med Spa offers Dual-Sculpting which allows us to treat multiple areas simultaneously in turn minimizing your treatment time. The length of your CoolSculpting session and the number of treatments you will need will depend on your aesthetic goals, which we’ll determine during an in-person consultation with you.

After your CoolSculpting treatment, you may see temporary redness in the treated area, swelling, bruising, tenderness, tingling, and increased skin sensitivity. These issues generally resolve within the first week or so afterward.

Coolsculpting results appear gradually, which is excellent for anyone who prefers a discreet approach. You can expect to notice improvements approximately three weeks after your treatment and will see the most notable outcomes after two months.

After the skin has been thoroughly prepared, our CoolSculpting applicator is applied to one targeted  area at a time. The device connects to the skin, drawing the tissue with unwanted fat into a chamber. Then, controlled cooling is administered to the treatment area, and the unwanted fat cells undergo cryolipolysis, a process that freezes the fat cells while the surrounding tissue remains unharmed. The entire process takes about 40 minutes per area to complete. Afterward, you are free to go about your usual activities.

CoolSculpting treatments involve mild yet temporary discomfort due to the strong suction and extreme cold. Some patients experience a gentle pulling, pinching, tingling, stinging, or cramping during the first few minutes of their treatment; however, as the temperature decreases, a numbing effect will take over, and most patients can relax, read, watch television, or even nap for the remainder of their treatment time. There may be some skin hypersensitivity in the treated area, but this generally resolves in a few days. There may also be some mild tenderness  for about a week—similar to muscle soreness after an intense workout.

Your body’s fat cells remain the same once you reach adulthood. What happens to these cells is that they will either grow or shrink depending on your diet and lifestyle, but the number of cells remains the same. CoolSculpting destroys fat cells in designated areas, and the body eliminates them for good. Since it reduces the total number of fat cells in your body, it also makes it so that your body can no longer store as much fat as it could have before, leaving the treatment areas “sculpted” even if you were to gain some weight in the future. However, to maintain your CoolSculpting results, you should avoid significant weight gain through your healthy diet and exercise.

Following your CoolSculpting treatments, you may experience some redness, bruising, inflammation, or numbness in the treated areas. These effects should resolve themselves within 1 to 2 weeks.
