Dysport & Botox in Chicago, IL
Fine lines and wrinkles are an inevitable part of the natural aging process, but you don’t have to let them detract from your self-confidence. Though they can give your face character, you may be looking for ways to minimize their appearance. Botox® and Dysport® are two quick, easy, and minimally invasive anti-aging solutions that can make you look more youthful and refreshed.
Why Do Fine Lines and Wrinkles Form?
Aging is the main reason fine lines and wrinkles develop but it is not the only factor. Environmental factors, including sun exposure, genetics, smoking, and skin dehydration also contribute.
Botox and Dysport are used for very specific fine lines and wrinkles. They are used to soften the fine lines and wrinkles that are formed by a lifetime of habitual facial expressions like squinting, smiling, and frowning. These wrinkles will become more pronounced with time. Botox and Dysport (pronounced “diss-port”) are proven options for gently relaxing facial muscles that cause these specific lines and wrinkles. As the muscles gently relax, these fine lines and creases will appear less noticeable.
How Does Botox Work?
Botox and Dysport are FDA-approved for the safe, effective treatment of wrinkles. When injected in targeted facial areas, these products will temporarily block those muscles from contracting in turn softening the appearance of those fine lines and wrinkles.
After approximately three to four months, the muscles will start reactivating and regain their ability to contract. However, a qualified injector can maintain your refreshed appearance with regular treatment sessions.
“I recently went to Trio and saw Nurse Arianna for Botox. She was phenomenal! She was so kind and honest. I asked if I needed Botox for my forehead and she said no! I liked that she was truthful and only did my crow’s feet and elevens, which is why I came in. The results are flawless. Thank you!” -Lauren

FAQs About Dysport and Botox
Since these products address the same issues and are chemically similar, you may wonder if one is inherently better or safer than the other. Sometimes, the choice of product comes down to preference – either for you or your experienced injection specialist.
Remember, your injector’s skill and training should always take precedence over what product you decide to use. With any cosmetic treatment – even a minimally invasive one – your safety and comfort come first. Our experienced injection specialists are intimately familiar with facial musculature and will carefully introduce the correct dosage where it will have the desired effect.
Botox and Dysport side effects are mild when you have your injections performed by a skilled provider. While you can request to have the treatment area numbed with a topical anesthetic if you prefer, many people report the injections are relatively painless, even without the numbing agent.
You may experience minor bruising, swelling, and soreness around the injection site, but these should resolve on their own within a few days. Though it is rare, some patients have a minor skin reaction to the formula, including redness, itching, or tingling.
While you can return to work after your appointment however, we ask that you avoid strenuous workouts for at least 24 hours after receiving Botox and Dysport. These proteins need time to take effect after injection, and vigorous exercise can cause these products to metabolize before they’ve had enough time to settle in to the treated areas.
It’s a common misconception that Botox or Dysport prevent people from making facial expressions. Here at Trio Med Spa, our goal is for you to look like a rejuvenated version of yourself. NEVER a “frozen” one. No one should be able to notice that you have had this treatment but they should notice that you look beautifully refreshed. A successful treatment will leave you with natural, subtle movement but a smoothed out appearance when your face is at rest.
Yes! For example, while Botox and Dysport can minimize fine lines and wrinkles in the upper third of your face, dermal fillers provide outstanding anti-aging benefits for areas like your cheeks and the lines around your mouth. Combining fillers and Botox / Dysport in a procedure called a “liquid facelift” provides a full-face rejuvenation without sutures, anesthesia, or downtime.
It is hard to say how many units YOU may need because everyone’s needs, goals and degree of desired correction are different. Upon your complimentary consultation, our skilled practitioners will discuss your goals, assess your needs, give you exact pricing and make the appropriate recommendation.

You can resume most of your typical daily activities after Botox. However, for best results, following your treatment, please avoid doing anything that could elevate your heart rate, thin your blood, increase bruising and swelling, or cause the product to migrate away from the treated area, including:
- Exercising less than 24 hours after treatment
- Rubbing or touching the treated area
- Getting a body massage or any other treatment where someone may massage the treated area (example: facial, eyebrow waxing)
- Drinking alcoholic beverages
- Lying on your back
- Bending over for extended periods of time

Longevity will vary from person to person as we are all physiologically different and metabolize things at different rates. On average, most people find that Botox or Dysport will last about three to four months. Our skilled injectors can maintain your youthful look with periodic maintenance appointments.
It’s safe to wash your face immediately after getting Botox, but please be gentle. Do not push or massage your skin when applying cleanser, and carefully pat your face dry. If facials are part of your regular routine, do not schedule one on the same day as your treatment.
